Proposal

I have approached a friend of mine who owns a Dance School called “Dance City”.  i will be working with the Owner, Amy Fitzpatrick. I will be capturing the school as a business by having her as the main character and focus of the first photo. I will be having her a few steps forward and the other dancers will be lined up behind her. There will be plain and simple lighting. I will be concentrating on Amy showing her ownership and professional side of running a business.

For my second shot, I want to show what goes on in the dance school in the way of talent and try and capture a shot that is almost behind the scenes as if I am not there.

Proposal 2

First shot – corporate head shot with plain white background, taken inside.
Lighting?? Add photo

Second shot – creative corporate head shot/mid shot

Third shot – portrait same person using laptop

Fourth shot – simple portrait of friend of family using a mono block as a main source outside.

workshop 3

Daylight exposure is effected/controlled by your choice of shutter speed and aperture?        true

Flash synchronisation is affected by your choice of shutter speed? True or False?                          true

Flash exposure is affected/controlled by your choice of shutter speed? True or False?       true

You are photographing a subject in daylight where you wish the flash to be the main source and daylight to be the fill light at two stops less exposure then the flash exposure. The procedure:

Using a light meter you calculate the correct daylight exposure to be 60th @ f32.
You now set et your monobloc as a main source and adjust the output and or distance (and using your light meter) until correct flash exposure is f32.

Describe the result and lighting if you exposed for daylight together with the flash on these settings?        over exposed .

Describe how you could now reduce the daylight exposure by two stops without effecting the flash exposure. increase shutter speed by two stops from 60th to 250th

Having done this, now describe the result and image in terms of what the subject looks like? correctly exposed image.

WORKSHOP 2

Location class
§  What does the term ‘bounce flash’ mean and why would you use this technique?
§
§  A single flashgun, used directly, gives hard shadows because it is a small light source. The only way to soften the light, is to make the source of light larger. The most effective way of doing this with on-camera flash, is to bounce it.

§
§  What does the term ‘fill-flash’ mean and why would you use it.
§
§  fill flash can help you even out the exposure across your subject. A prime example of this is a person wearing a hat outdoors. Often the hat will create a shadow directly across the subject's eyes. Using fill flash will illuminate the eyes without overexposing the rest of the image.
§
§  When working in daylight, how could you use flash as a main light and daylight as a fill, describe it?
